My road taken during the first year.

Happy new year everyone!
I have learned a lot during my first year. I participated some workshops and trainings. I worked together with Antoine(ESR2), Joyraj(ESR3) and Imane(ESR4). Team work is really important.
In 2018, I will focus on writing some papers and participate some conferences.

Last week, I spent a wonderful time in Ifsttar, Nantes. And attended the 1st INFRASTAR spring school. Students and experts from different universities and companies came to this event.  During this week, we have learnt a lot, not only from the lectures by the professors, but also we gained a lot of experience explaining our research and 'guiding' the others to do the exercises that we prepared. Implementation of CWI on real bridge!!!

What is the goal of science? Why we do scientific research? The final goal is to apply science in our real life!! For some people, PhD students are I would say, correct! We are like this! We need to read a lot of articles, we need to do test in the lab, we need to analyze our data on PC. BUT! As a civil engineer, we are also like this: In September and October 2018, I did my secondment in Neostrain, KRAKOW, in Poland. I was lucky to have a chance to implement CWI method on a real bridge (Gliwice bridge). Embedded ultrasonic sensors were installed inside the bridge girder. Measurement devices were locked in this big box under the bridge. Checking connections Me and ESR3 Joyraj  did the test together. We monitored the bridge girder for 5 days to study the influence of real traffic and temperature.  Now we have some interesting result and  we are planning to publish papers based on this test. Who am I? Where do I come from? And what am I doing?

Hey. Everyone, welcome to my blog. I will introduce u myself and give you a quick view of my PhD topic. Who am I? Where do I come from? My name is Xin WANG. It is a typical Chinese name, and yes. I am from China. For the first year of my undergraduate, I studied underwater acoustics in China. Then I moved to France. I studied acoustics as an undergraduate in Université du Maine. Then, for my master, I changed my major to electronics and continued my study in Pierre and Marie Curie University.   Now I am working in a European project named  ' INFRASTAR ' and doing my PhD thesis in BAM (Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung), Berlin. What am I doing? My PhD topic is ' Advanced ultrasonic instrumentation for interferometric monitoring '. So what I do is to monitor the concrete using ultrasonic sensors. But why we do this?
